Friday Links

This week was really nice because I had the chance to spend quality time with my family and catch up with some old and new friends. Yesterday, the Bomb Cyclone hit the Tri-State Area leaving me snowed in! It was so fun because I got to sit around and watch tv. Since my twin and I were both away at school these past few months, my family hasn't had everyone together in a while. I have enjoyed having everyone together like the good ol' days.

Although it have enjoyed being at home, I am very excited to get away for a few days. Next week, I am going to Dallas to help move in and drop off my sister at school. It'll be fun to visit some of my favorite spots in Dallas and Highland Park Village! Even though the holiday shopping is over, there are still some really good sales and items in stock. Here are this week's links.

I really want these houndstooth pants from Club Monaco. I love the ruffle hem at the bottom, and they'll be so fun to wear in the spring.

I have been really into athleisure wear lately. Here's the best athleisure for every workout.

I am obsessed with this star sweater from J. Crew.

SALE ALERT! Right now, until next Wednesday, you can get an extra 40% off select styles at J. Crew with code NEWYEAR. They have some great items so go check it out!

I love Aimee's casual outfit. The striped sweater with the ruffle sleeves is definitely a must-have!

This monogram eye mask is a necessity for next semester. It is the perfect item to have to block out the light while my I am trying to sleep.

Have a great weekend!

Day in NYC & Glossier

Happy New Year everyone! I am currently on my five and a half week winter break. I have had a lot of time to relax, do absolutely nothing, and reflect on my first semester of college. Everything was  great for the first few months of college, but unfortunately, I could not find any inspiration for my blog. Yesterday I went to New York City to meet up with some friends from school, and we went shopping and visited the Glossier Showroom. After my visit, I realized that I missed writing on my blog and sharing photos on my Instagram account (@theprepnextdoor). I have never been consistent with posting on Instagram, but it is a new year, and I look forward to improving this.

My friends and I decided to walk through the Flat Iron District on our way to SoHo to get lunch at Delicatessen. The food was delicious and it was good to catch up with friends! After that, we stopped in a bunch of stores including Illesteva and Zara. I was looking to going to Glossier's Showroom. I have been wanting to visit the showroom for over a year now so I was beyond excited today was the day! I apologize for the photo overload, but everything was so pretty and needed to be photographed.

On Instagram, there has been a lot of hype over Glossier's products. I have seen a lot of posts and positive reviews about everything, and I was always interested in trying it for myself. Let me assure you that everyone was right because their products were amazing! I tried almost everything in the showroom, and my favorite products are the Birthday Balm Dotcom, Body Hero Duo, Cloud Paint, Stretch Concealer, and the Milk Jelly Cleanser. I have been recently been getting into skin care and makeup products, and it was great to try something different that works so nicely.

It was very fun to try out all of their products, and see what looks and works best for me since I use minimal makeup. The showroom was so pretty and aesthetically pleasing. I loved how organized everything was, and how easy it was to sample their products. The employees were very helpful, and my overall experience was great! Everything was fairly priced, and I think it is definitely worth the money.  I look forward to using the products I bought yesterday and buying more in the future!

You can shop my favorite product and more from Glossier below.

Have you tried Glossier before?

Happy first day of fall! I am beyond excited for this season to have finally arrived. These past couple of weeks, I have been quite anxious and looking forward to pulling out my fall wardrobe. I can't wait to share my fall outfits with you all. There are a variety of things I am looking forward to and love about fall including, the beautiful colors, endless activities, and great food. I am so excited, and I know this is going to be a great one especially at school.

The adorable, Darci Lynne won America's Got Talent this past week! I had been watching her performances online throughout the season, and I am so happy to hear she won.

The hottest shoes found on the Spring 18 runway.

Did you check out my freshman dorm tour or  collaboration with Warby Parker?

Who What Wear's Fall Issue Guide is very informative for what this season's trends are.

This is how to layer for fall.

Aimee's outfits during New York Fashion Week were killer. My favorites were the all pink suit and all Burgundy.

Enjoy the first weekend of fall!

Freshman Dorm Tour

Roberta Roller Rabbit Quilt / Roberta Roller Rabbit pillows (small, large)

It's hard to believe that I have been in college for a little over three weeks. When I arrived to Holy Cross, on move-in day, I was surprised to see how much space there was in my dorm. I didn't think I was going to have enough room to store my clothes, but in fact, there is a sufficient amount of space to hold everything. When I was trying to figure out how I wanted to store and organize my clothes and personal belongings, I came upon these adorable Scout storage bins. The large storage bins are perfect to store under my bed. These bins hold my bulky sweaters, pants, tops, bags, and sheets. It is amazing how deep they are and how many things they can hold. I highly recommend investing in these Scout bins! They come in the cutest patterns, and you can match them with your bedding just like how I did.

Warby Parker Concentric Collection

Greetings from Holy Cross! I know that I have been MIA for a long time here on the blog, but after adjusting to college the past three weeks, I am excited to be back! Since the school year just began, I thought it would be the perfect time to invest in a new pair of glasses. I am also so excited for today's post with Warby Parker to share their new Concentric Collection. A quick disclaimer before I begin: the opinions expressed in this post are solely my own. The Concentric Collection consists of subtle rings of color around each lens. They have some fun color options such as plum, oak, and blue. The plum glasses are definitely my favorite because I love how the pop of purple stands out around your eye.

If you are interested in buying the concentric collection or any other Warby Parker eye glasses, I recommend the Home Try-On process. It is a overall very easy. All you do is select five pairs of glasses you're interested in trying on, and Warby Parker sends them to you for free for five days. Everything including shipping is free of charge. You can wear the glasses you're interested in around town, and see how you feel about them. Below are the Plum, Blue Jay, and Oak glasses that are a part concentric collection.

Warby Parker also sent me a couple of glasses to try on. Out of the glasses I picked out, the Pearled Tortoise and the Lavender Crystal were my favorites. The tortoise are classic while the crystal are very trendy. Although the lavender glasses don't have the rings of color around the lenses like the concentric collection, they are very similar. Overall, the crystal and concentric collection are very unique and different from an ordinary pair of eye glasses. I also love how this style and collection matches with anything. Here's how I styled the pearled tortoise and the lavender crystal eye glasses the other day.

Thank you to Warby Parker for collaborating with me on this post.

T-1 day until I move into my dorm! I am so excited for college to start, and to explore what Holy Cross has to offer. This past week was low key but crazy because I've been packing, running errands, and getting everything ready before I move into school. It's hard to believe that all of my friends have been in school for almost a week. I just can't wait to get settled in and be on my merry way.

You can get 25% off J. Crew new arrivals with the code 48HOURS.

I got these camouflage pants from J. Crew, and I am looking forward to wearing them this fall!

An exclusive tour of Kiel James Patrick and Sarah Vicker's KJP Flagship store. It is every preppy person's dream store. Their sweater collection is amazing; I definitely need to get one. The Anchor sweaterStripes Du Cap Ferrat, and the Freshest Catch are my favorites!

Taylor Swift just released her new single Look What You Made Me Do. What do you think of it?

I love how Emma this pink wrap skirt; it looks adorable on her!

Have a great weekend!

New Beginnings

In two days, I move into my dorm at Holy Cross. I could not be more excited, and I look forward to meeting my roommate for the first time! I have four days of orientation which will be good to get familiar with the campus and meet more of my classmates, and on Wednesday, I begin classes. This past week has been hard because I've had to say my goodbyes to all of my friends. Although it has been sad and quite emotional, I am ready to meet new people and begin my new life at Holy Cross!

Stay tuned on my Instagram stories for updates on move-in day!

xoxo,
