Typically, I am not into New Year's Revolutions because I make unrealistic goals for myself that I end up not following through with. However, 2016, is a huge year for me because I am heading into the college process of looking at colleges, applying to schools, and filling out their applications. As I have heard that junior year is quite stressful. I need to take advantage of my surroundings.
1. Spend less time on my phone
This is an essential goal for myself because I spend way too much time on my phone. When I could be getting ahead on schoolwork, blog posts, or spending quality time with my family, instead, I am always checking out social media. Studies have shown that cell phones can take away one's happiness, decrease in academic and social potential. Since I basically have a year left of high school and time with my friends and family it is important that I don't go on my phone as much.
2. Get a job in winter or summer
Now that I have my license, I can drive myself anywhere. It is important that I take some responsibility and initiative for myself and earn some money. From working at a summer camp to a store in my local shop. I think that getting a job is a big step into the adult work world.
3.Worry less and live in the moment
I worry way too much. I get anxious about upcoming tests and quizzes, social events etc. It really takes away from what is going on in my life. I need to focus on the world around me such as the small things in life because they will help make more positive experiences.
4. Drink more water
During the school day, I always have my S'well water bottle with me. However, when I am at home, I drink too much soda. It is a serious problem. Since I don't get caffeine from coffee, soda really helps keep me awake. Cutting back on soda, I know will definitely show some immediate results in a healthy life.
5.Have a consistent blog schedule
Finally, my blog, in 2015, I was much better at writing blog posts. This year I would like to write 5 times a week for you all. It is important to keep my readers updated . However, school can really get in the way of my blog posts. School always comes first, but now, The Prep Next Door is second because I love writing. Also, I would like to connect more to my readers by writing content that is relatable to you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment them blow, email me, or dm me on instagram! I am always open for suggestions to help improve my blog.
What are your goals for 2016?
